Traveling with Minors
Requirements for minors traveling abroad
If a minor of Mexican nationality travels abroad without either parent, they must present the Minors Leaving the Country form (SAM). Parents can process this form at the immigration window at Guadalajara Airport.
To avoid delays, we suggest processing this form in advance, allowing a couple of hours in addition to the time required by the airline. If the minor’s flight departs early in the morning, it is advisable to go the day before to complete this procedure. In the mornings, the line at the immigration window can take more than an hour.
Start the procedure at the following link:
Three copies of the SAM form must be printed and presented at the INM office, together with the following documents, by the person who holds parental authority over the minor:
- 3 copies of the birth certificate of the minor.
- 3 copies of the valid ID of the person who holds parental authority or guardianship of the minor.
- 3 copies of the valid ID of the person accompanying the minor (if traveling with a third party of legal age).
The immigration window at Guadalajara Airport is located between the international arrivals door and the United Airlines counters.
Please note that the airline will not allow minors to board without this form duly completed if they are not traveling with their parents.
